Source-grounded drafting

When the family is ready to shape a draft, the system works only from memories the organizer has approved. No external material, no generic examples, no invented passages. Every section of the draft can be traced back to the specific family memories it drew from.

This means the draft may be less polished than something written entirely by a professional writer. It will also sound more like the family that loved the person.

Permission system

Every contributor chooses how their words may be used. The six permission levels range from “may be quoted by name in any context” to “private to the organizer, do not include in drafts.”

The organizer can make permissions stricter but never broader. A contributor who originally agreed to be quoted by name can later request background-only use. These choices carry through every draft, version, and export.

AI boundaries

Eulogy Walker uses AI service providers to help shape drafts, transcribe voice memories, and suggest organizational structures. The AI works only with approved family material.

What the AI does not do: invent content, write from scratch without source material, make up quotes, guess at relationships, add religious or cultural content the family has not chosen, share memories with third parties, or train on family data beyond what is needed to complete the current request.

Provider models are configured not to retain prompts or responses for training. Current providers and retention terms are listed on the privacy and trust page.

Human review

The organizer reviews every draft before it is finalized. Nothing generated by the system reaches export without human approval. The organizer can edit any section, restore an earlier version, or discard a draft and start fresh with different selections.

Privacy and deletion

Workspaces are private by default. After 30 active days plus a five-day download window, the workspace closes and private content is securely deleted. Backups may retain encrypted copies for up to 24 hours after deletion.

What this means for your eulogy

The final eulogy belongs to your family, not to us. It is written in the words your family chose, grounded in the memories they shared, and reviewed by the people who knew the person best.
